Hi! I’m Wanjiku Gitau—Welcome to AfroCanQueen Photography!
I’m so glad you’re here!
AfroCanQueen Photography is all about celebrating beauty, strength, and artistry through bold, striking imagery. I specialize in maternity, beauty, fashion, and commercial photography, creating timeless visuals that tell powerful stories.
AfroCanQueen Photography officially launched in London, UK, where the vision to capture people’s uniqueness through photography came to life. Today, I’m based in Nairobi, Kenya, working with incredible people from all backgrounds, telling their stories through vibrant, artistic imagery. My signature style is known for its bold use of color, creative lighting, and powerful compositions—because I believe photography should make you feel something deep and lasting.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.” — Ecclesiastes 3:11
This verse is at the heart of everything I do. Photography is more than just taking pictures—it’s about seeing beauty even before it fully unfolds. Whether capturing the glow of an expecting mother, the elegance of a fashion shoot, or the perfect details of a brand’s vision, I trust that every moment comes together in God’s perfect timing. Just as He carefully shapes each of us, I take the time to craft each image with intention, patience, and excellence, knowing that beauty is revealed step by step.
The same principle applies to mentorship. In 2022, I was honored to be the first Kenyan woman to receive the Black Women Photographers $5,000 Grant in collaboration with Nikon USA, which allowed me to invest in and uplift other women in photography. That passion led to the creation of AfroCan Learn, where I guide upcoming photographers through their own creative journeys—helping them see their growth, trust the process, and refine their craft in God’s timing.
In February 2024, I had the privilege of addressing the Human Rights Delegation as a guest speaker at the East Africa Model United Nations, furthering conversations on visual storytelling and impact. Over the years, my work has been showcased on billboards across Nairobi and featured in Pulse Magazine, The Standard Newspaper Kenya, Republik Magazine, Rangefinder, PhotoShelter, Mob Journal, Epic Pulse Magazine and many more! I truly thank God for the journey!
Photography is my ministry, my art, and my way of glorifying God. Whether you're here to book a session, learn, or be inspired, know that every moment—just like every person—is created with purpose, beauty, and divine timing.
